Mrs. Janice Elaine (Hayes) Moore

GRAHAM- Janice Elaine Hayes Moore, 73, of 217 Eastway Lane, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at her residence.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Janice was the daughter of James Alva Hayes and Verna Otelia Heckstall both deceased and the wife of Paul McKinley Moore, also deceased. 

Janice leaves to cherish her memory her two devoted daughters, Alayna Rochelle Moore of Burlington, NC and Paula Moore Brown (Drew) of Shelby, NC; a loving bonus daughter, Tathia Corbett Cheeley (Darryl) of McLeansville, NC; a bonus son, Joseph Lamont Moore (Shawnalyn) of Charlotte, NC; nine beloved grandchildren, Isaiah Moore of Columbia, SC, Darrien Cheeley of McLeansville, NC, Kayla Moore of Burlington, NC, Kelsia Moore of Burlington, NC, Nicholas Cheeley of McLeansville, NC, Taylen Cheeley of McLeansville, NC, Arielle Moore-Wiggins of Burlington, NC, Peyton Brown of Shelby, NC and Andrew Brown of Shelby, NC; two great-grandchildren, Kea’Mani and King Canada of Burlington, NC; one sister, Mrs. Vivian Hayes Stevens (Ron) of Williamstown, NJ; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law of the Garrison and Graves families; her church family and a host of other special relatives including aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom she dearly loved. 

Janice’s homegoing service will be held on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024 at 2:00pm at Stoney Creek AME Church, 3769 Milesville Rd, Elon, NC with Pastor Kim Moss presiding and Pastor Emeritus Rev. James Swain, Jr. performing her eulogy.  Interment will follow in Stoney Creek AME Church Cemetery next to her beloved husband.

The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to Janice’s funeral service on Sunday from 1:30pm-2:00pm at the church and all other times at the home.

Public viewing for Janice will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024 from 1-8:00 pm.
